All my work is created on thick museum board or cotton rag paper, using watercolor, gouache and graphite. The combination helps me achieve a print-like quality that would be less likely with a single medium. I begin by applying multi-layers of watercolor and gouache to obtain a richness of color as my background. I then draw graphite contour lines, filling them in with two or three coats of gouache paint.
I began drawing at an early age and have cultivated a style that emphasizes color and contrasts. My inspiration comes from nature. I try to provide a new way of seeing common elements, primarily flowers and landscapes. I think of my work as abstract realism.
